[00:00:22.500]
and welcome back to another episode of the Y ‘all Are Crazy Ranch podcast. Today we’re gonna be talking about a topic that we both enjoy, and it is building a Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business that lasts.
[00:00:35.300]
Well, nobody wants to build a business that doesn’t last, at least I don’t think so. Most don’t start out with that intention of building a business that’s gonna fail, but the reality of it is the overwhelming majority of Oklahoma Grassfed Beef businesses do fail.
[00:00:51.600]
What I think is gonna be great about this podcast is you don’t have to be a business owner to…
[00:00:56.700]
To learn from this podcast. We’re gonna be talking about honestly building a life. That’s successful that can last as well So hey if you own a business if you don’t have a business, you’re gonna learn a lot from this podcast We hope yeah, that’s our intention. Yeah, the principles can be applied to a lot of different things for sure So I did this workbook several years ago, but as I was reading through it It’s so applicable and so that’s what we’re gonna talk about. So I did this notebook It’s called building a Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business that lasts. This is not available for purchase so I mainly used this when I would go speak to businesses or Groups who wanted to learn more about how to build their business and I would distribute these To all the attendees so I had them spiral bound So that’s what I’m gonna be that’s what I’m gonna be holding today and we’re gonna be teaching through. Yeah
[00:01:49.600]
So what’s point number one?
[00:01:51.800]
Well, I first want to preface it by saying we both really live by this quote in a lot of areas of our life, and I think it’s popularly Made known by Joyce Meyer It’s do it afraid That’s true do it afraid and when you think about how many times in your life You’ve been scared to do something and you’ve either pushed through and done it anyway Or you’ve said I’m just gonna be afraid and you don’t do it and maybe you wish you would have because the truth of it is a lot of things you do in life you do have to Be you’re scared and you have to do it anyway And a lot of times the most important things in our life are that way.
[00:02:40.100]
Well, I remember when I started my first business
[00:02:43.500]
Truth be told I was scared to death, you know I remember thinking, you know, am I ready? You’re never ready You know, you really it’s kind of like when people talk about having kids and they just want to be ready You know, we say you’re not you’re never gonna be ready.
[00:02:58.600]
You just got to do it, you know But when I opened my first one is like, I don’t know that I’m ready Will I fail What happens if I fail, you know Then you got to you got to kind of beat that devil off your shoulder and go no, I’m gonna win, you know But you got to just do it afraid because you’re never gonna be a hundred percent Just mentally ready and you can have the most detailed plan in the world But then when you start stuff happens and you just got to roll with the punches and keep going So for sure and there’s so many things in life. It doesn’t even have
[00:03:34.800]
your business it could be like I’m gonna sign up to do this race or this course or this learning opportunity or anything you might be scared when you do it but sometimes you have to say you know what I’m just gonna do it afraid yeah so that’s kind of our principle over all this and then I’m also gonna read this Bible verse that I have on here and it says do not fear for I am with you do not be dismayed for I am your God I will strengthen you and help you I will uphold you with my righteous right hand Isaiah 41 and 10 that’s good so with that in mind let’s get started so I think it’s so important we both think it’s so important for you to write things down we think when you write things down it has power
[00:04:23.900]
When you write things down, it makes you remember it and it makes it real That’s why I did these workbooks because I feel like when you write it down and you can go back and look at it It’s powerful.
[00:04:36.100]
Yeah writing it down Increases the likelihood of something happening.
[00:04:40.100]
It also makes your brain think and it helps you get stuff on paper and More stuff actually comes to your mind as you’re writing then if you just don’t so it helps in a lot of ways So the first thing in here is Writing down your ideal self and this is kind of a funny exercise, especially if you’ve never done it before But I do think it’s important to just be like, okay, this is a little bit uncomfortable, but I’m just gonna do it
[00:05:07.900]
So have you ever done this my ideal self?
[00:05:11.100]
Yeah, I’ve never written down what my ideal self would look like No, so I’ve thought about it. It’s been very important, but I wrote that down.
[00:05:18.000]
Yeah, so we’re gonna kind of Here’s the thing if you want to write down your ideal self and like maybe be like Oh, I would love to be there in five years five years goes by fast and you’re gonna arrive somewhere and So you either are gonna try to hit a target that you have ahead of you or you’re just gonna end up somewhere So by doing this exercise, I think it will help you get to the point You want to be at and like actually have a target. So some of this exercise says your ideal self What does your ideal self look like? What does your family look like? What does your spiritual life look like?
[00:05:56.600]
What does your average week look like? How much do you earn if that’s important and significant to you? What are your favorite hobbies and passions? Here’s kind of one that maybe you don’t think about, but what do you wear?
[00:06:13.600]
Yeah.
[00:06:15.000]
That dive’s deep, okay? And what do you do for fun? These all say she because I wrote this for women, but obviously this is applied to men as well. And some of these, it’s like I don’t want this to come across as materialistic or self, too much about like self, because I understand that as a Christian, like we are to die to ourselves.
[00:06:39.700]
And I don’t want this to be like me, me, me. But I do think that as a Christian, like God calls us to live the best life we can. And so this is an exercise to help us do that.
[00:06:50.700]
Yeah, and to be your best. I was actually having a conversation about this yesterday, as a matter of fact, about your ideal self. It was a little phrase, a little different. But I was talking to a guy about what we were actually discussing is like, I’m a financial advisor, right? A licensed financial advisor. And we’re talking about other people becoming that, right? And it could be a financial advisor. It could be a realtor. It could be an electrician. It doesn’t matter. It’s one thing to go past the tests and the licenses and get your certifications or whatever.
[00:07:24.900]
That doesn’t mean you’ve made it and that doesn’t mean you’re good Okay, and so you might have the piece of paper that say I passed I’m a financial advisor or whatever But if you’re not smart, you know if you don’t study If you don’t carry yourself well, if you don’t speak well if you’re not If you don’t have self -confidence All those other factors are what matters on whether or not you’re gonna actually be successful at that thing Many businesses there is a very high failure rate.
[00:07:58.700]
I know in real estate when I got in anyway The failure rate was 91 % for first -year realtors. That is incredibly high very high And I can tell you by it now being in the business for 14 years. That’s so accurate I’ve seen so many people like get into it and then they’re like Oh, this is not what I thought this was and it is a costly business to stay in if you’re not
[00:08:23.600]
Yeah, because it takes a lot of other skill sets to be successful in Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business. It’s not the test. It’s not the certification in whatever field that you’re in. You know, for me I’m in the insurance and financial services field. To start I had to get insurance licenses. Well, I went and checked that box. Then I learned the business and then I wanted to open my own business. Well, you’re not successful in the insurance business by having a whole bunch of knowledge about every insurance product, right? Customers don’t call me and want to know if I know the policy inside and out. I mean, I got to know the policy, but I don’t know the, you know what I’m saying? They’re not going to care about, can I memorize that policy language perfectly?
[00:09:05.600]
No. To be successful in the business, I’ve got to be a leader. I got to learn how to lead. I got to learn how to manage a company. I got to learn how to influence people. I got to learn how to manage people. Like all those kind of things that most business owners lack because
[00:09:20.500]
They just get their certification or they just start and then they don’t ever work on those things and so they can’t grow And then they then they just then their businesses start to fail, you know So that part is a never -ending journey And a lot of Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business owners don’t even think about that part of it If you’re not a good leader, you got to become one, you know, and so how do you do that?
[00:09:41.700]
You read books you listen to podcasts you get a mentor, but you got to be working on stuff like that Yeah, and I think that this goes back to like what do you want your ideal self to look like so how if you have that What does it take to get there?
[00:09:56.800]
Yeah, okay.
[00:09:58.000]
So what do you want your ideal self to look like?
[00:10:02.000]
This can be a lot of different ways, but when you think about that, what do you want your family to look like like? Okay, write this down and then not don’t stop there. What’s it gonna take to get there? Can you think of some specific ways that like you wanted your life to look this way? And now maybe it does and Yeah, what did what did it take to get there?
[00:10:23.500]
Yeah, are you asking me directly?
[00:10:25.300]
You’re asking the audience you you on the spot.
[00:10:28.200]
Oh, okay.
[00:10:29.000]
I thought you were just speaking to them, you know I’m asking you.
[00:10:32.800]
Yeah, you know now it’s an interview. Okay, you know I did like when I first started my first business I knew I wanted to have a successful business and wanted to have a big team. I wanted to own my own office building Wanted to hit certain industry awards also wanted to have a big family We talked about that on my vision board a couple episodes ago And I had a cartoon caricature of the family, you know The tall dad and the mom and then all the kids that kind of a deal
[00:11:01.100]
We need to look at that again, because I feel like there were like four kids in that, and that was a big family task.
[00:11:07.100]
We’ve almost doubled that. But anyway, I had wrote all that stuff down, you know? And then part of the talking about your ideal self was, and the doubts coming into my mind was, am I a good enough leader? Do I know enough about Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business? Do I know how to set up the proper LLC structure and all these other things? And it’s like, in writing that stuff out, I had, then you had something to go to work on, you know what I mean? And start executing. But yeah, and then also knowing like how many hours a week are you willing to work? Because when you’re doing a business.
[00:11:42.600]
It can consume your whole life if you let it And you don’t want to do that and so but you have to be realistic on how much time it’s gonna take to get it Up and running and maybe there’s gonna be seasons to it, you know The first few months it’s gonna take this much time and then after that I’m gonna start dialing back sometime whatever that might look like but especially if you’re married you and your spouse need to be on the same page with expectations of What is this really gonna look like in the amount of hours?
[00:12:07.800]
I’m working a week, you know Well, and I was gonna say if you’re not married Yet we talk about this all the time. It matters so much who you marry. Oh my goodness I mean we hear so many successful people say after Giving your life to Jesus who you marry is the most important decision
[00:12:28.400]
Yeah, and I would agree with that a hundred percent. I mean I met with a man with somebody this last week that You know, they they had been successful in their business, but they’ve been divorced twice And so they’re you know, they didn’t have much money left. You know what I mean?
[00:12:42.600]
And it’s like yeah, that’s just that’s uh, That’s not the move, you know, yeah, it’s it matters so much who you marry and I think for us getting married at 2022 Obviously, that’s not that’s not everybody’s path. Some people get married younger and some get married older But for us, I feel like we grew up together And I always tell him like hey when I married you you had You had you were you had nothing. I started at the bottom and like we grew together
[00:13:17.200]
and we learn together. Now, that’s not everybody’s path, but I’m just saying like, I think we have become more aware as we’ve gotten older. Like, I’m so thankful I married you.
[00:13:29.200]
Yeah, and if we’re talking about building a business that lasts, you know, you got to have a marriage that lasts too. Because if the marriage doesn’t last, there’s a pretty good chance the business won’t last. And there’s a pretty good chance the business won’t be successful either, because you’ll have tension in your household. You know, all sorts of stuff start to unravel. So having a successful marriage is a very key part in building a business that lasts.
[00:13:54.600]
So yes, I agree. Yeah, I think that’s great. So when you write down what you want your ideal self to look like, what you want your family to look like. You know, the Bible says, like, man makes his way and the Lord directs his steps.
[00:14:08.400]
You know, obviously that is biblical truth. I am not arguing with that because God’s way is best. So we are making plans, but the Lord ultimately guides our steps. I had one of my agents call me this week and she’s like, oh my gosh, I just got asked to speak to a group of high school seniors and you know I don’t like public speaking and I’m so nervous. She’s like, but I have been praying for God to get me out of my comfort zone. She’s like, I wasn’t specific in my prayers and I’m like, oh, won’t he do it?
[00:14:44.900]
Won’t he do it?
[00:14:46.300]
Because you can like make your plans, but I promise you if you give it to God.
[00:14:51.400]
You know what, it’s not gonna go like this. It’s not gonna go straight up and it’s not gonna be a straight road. It’s gonna go more like up and down and up the mountain and down and around the curve and through the water. But then when you get to the other side, you’re gonna be like, thank you, Lord. Like you took me where I did not wanna go. Or I don’t know if I’d wanna go back and do that again, but I’m so glad I’m here because the knowledge and the way I’ve grown and where I am now, I couldn’t have gotten there if I wouldn’t have gone through all that. So what’s your ideal self look like? It may be a stretch. It may be like, gosh, this is a huge goal for me, depending on where you start. But yeah, I think you need to push yourself a bit.
[00:15:38.600]
yeah, then you also need to ask yourself the question like who are my ideal and likely buyers and how am I gonna reach them and Sell to them because so many people want to start a business and because they like whatever it is. They’re wanting to start But they really haven’t thought through Who are my ideal likely buyers and how am I gonna reach them and how many do I have to reach to? You know just break even on business expenses Like I had somebody the other day want to talk to me about opening up a bookstore, right and I was like, oh man Okay, tell me about that. Well, we just I don’t know. We like bookstores. I was like, oh cool Like I like the vibe in there. Yeah, and I was like Okay, I was like Michael a vibe I mean
[00:16:25.300]
That could be an expensive vibe, you know. I said, so how many, like how much does it cost to rent a space for where you want to put it? And now that, you know, I don’t really know. You know, and they were like, they were sure enough talking about opening one. And I was like, well, you better start calling around and figuring out that number.
[00:16:41.400]
How many books can you sell in a day?
[00:16:43.000]
And I was like, yeah, where are you gonna get your books from? Well, we can get them from this, you know, the fairgrounds or something where they give you bundles of them. And I was like, okay, hopefully they’re books that other people want. You know what I’m like? And so how much do you have to sell a book for? And how many books do you gotta sell a month just to pay the rent? And I could just tell, like, hadn’t thought that one yet.
[00:17:05.000]
So many people have good ideas, but when you really think about like, what does it take to actually be successful at that? That’s a whole other thing. You know, we talk about that with like drink stops.
[00:17:16.500]
you know, snow cone stands, ice cream shops, things like that. Very low cost things people come in to purchase. It doesn’t cost very much. But how many of those do you have to sell just to pay your rent?
[00:17:27.500]
A bunch, you know. I mean, even if you profit $10 a book, which they’re not that high, the profit margins aren’t that high. Man, it’s like, can you sell a thousand books a month? I doubt it. That’s a lot of books.
[00:17:44.000]
That’s a lot of books.
[00:17:44.700]
Unless you’re some online, and you’re not. It’s just, or you’re gonna start to sell coffee and some foods. But anyway, you gotta think through all that stuff. And a lot of people just get this idea they wanna start one. And in America, it’s easy to start one. Anybody can do it. You just go form an LLC and start. But it’s very dangerous if you don’t start writing stuff down and thinking about how many items do I have to sell to even pay these bills? This is what it’s gonna look like.
[00:18:10.400]
and start mathin’ it out, because I’ve had some ideas in the past, and you do that, and you’re like, okay, yeah, that probably wouldn’t work, you know? And I’ll save you a lot of money. And heartache. For sure. Yeah.
[00:18:21.600]
Yeah, you gotta write those things out. Yeah, and some of these things, it’s like, what does your average week look like? How much do you wanna earn? Okay, those are important things to think through, because like you said, if you’re not willing to work more than 40 hours a week, you probably shouldn’t open a business.
[00:18:39.600]
No, you shouldn’t.
[00:18:40.800]
We talk to plenty of people who are like, hey, I’m working 40 hours a week, and I actually like getting off at five, going home to my family, having weekends off, and that’s fantastic. You make a great income for your family, and you’re happy, but you probably shouldn’t open a business, because opening your own business, there is no such thing as nine to five. There is no such thing as weekends off. So you gotta think about that. Like, what lifestyle do you want?
[00:19:07.800]
Yet in the beginning it looks like a lot of hours and blood sweat and tears and then later on You might not be in your office that amount of time and all that kind of stuff but the Responsibility and the pressures are on you 24 -7 and as a business owner that cares and you’ve got people that you’re providing jobs for and you’re looking out for them that stress and that pressure Never leaves so you might be at home one night But then an idea comes to your mind that you have, you know now you got to go write that down or think that through You got a problem at the at office and that stuff that stuff is on you all the time That’s kind of what we mean by that It doesn’t look like you’re sitting there hammering at a computer for 15 hours a day every day.
[00:19:50.600]
That’s not what I’m talking about Yeah, it’s just that your mind never really gets to shut off. No, and I’ve told you guys before how
[00:19:58.000]
I’ve been in the on vacations pretty much every time we’ve ever gone on a vacation, but in airports I mean working writing offers. I’ve been in hospital beds writing offers Working counter offers because people depend on you Now you can set healthy boundaries. Yes, you can but you know just last night I was nursing the baby getting ready to go to bed. I was so tired, but I told somebody I’ll have that invoice to By the end of the day and when I say I’m gonna do something I do it, so it’s like 1030 I’m so tired, but I’m like I gotta go send that invoice because I told her I’d have it to her by the end of The day yeah, so I went and did that And I told you the other day You know I was in town working and and when you’re in a small town things are different like you just know people And you have a lot going on and I’m like I go to the dentist and you know They’re working on my teeth, and they’re like I need to buy tickets for your next event Can I do that and I’m like uh -huh you know like it just it doesn’t stop
[00:20:57.600]
and you own a business, which is what you want. That is the goal. I always tell my realtors, when people see you, you want them to think real estate. And I wanna talk to her about real estate because I know, like, and trust her. That’s the goal. So, but just make sure that’s the life you want.
[00:21:16.400]
Yeah, I remember one time we are on vacation. I think we were in Hawaii and it was a plan. It was a trip that we’d already had planned for a long time. And then I was opening up a second agency and I was supposed to get the phone number for it, but then the guy ended up taking it. But we had signed a contract, but anyway, there was one form that the phone provider hadn’t, didn’t include in the packet. So it kind of let it, you know, let that deal unfold. And I remember it was like, I had to…
[00:21:44.600]
and we were opening in like the next week and I couldn’t not have a phone number. We were on vacation but I had to get with a new phone company and establish all that stuff. Remember that? And I was like well that’s just that’s just part of it.
[00:21:58.300]
That’s just part of it. Something else I want to touch on is what does your average week look like? I have so many women that tell me like I want to do what you do and I can have my kids with me all the time and I can just work and I’m like, okay um you know you do have to put plans in place and boundaries in place if you want to level up. For me like it’s been super important I’ve talked about before to have my kids in a Mother’s Day Out program. I’ve done it for all seven. They’ve all gone two days a week and I talked to a lot of moms who are like I just don’t want to do that. I don’t want to put my kids in this.
[00:22:36.700]
I just want to have them with me all the time and that’s fine, but it is going to change Your amount of work you’re able to get done. It’s very hard to go to in -person meetings closings Inspections with your kids with you.
[00:22:51.800]
It’s it’s hard I usually have made my babies with me for six months and then they’ll start going two days a week On Fridays, I have a babysitter come over so that I can go to Bible study I can record this podcast. I can have lunch meetings now. Am I with our kids most of the time?
[00:23:11.600]
Yes But I do put things in place which cost money Like I tell him if I’m not with our kids like I’m paying someone to be with them We don’t have family clothes that I can just drop our kids by we never have so
[00:23:27.900]
It’s just like when you see a successful mom, it doesn’t mean That she’s done it all with her kids around her all the time. You have to have help if you want to scale your business And be a professional That’s just that’s what I was thinking about.
[00:23:43.800]
What does your average week look like sometimes it means like, okay I want to get to this level so I have to do this thing Yeah, and a lot of times that’s making an investment in childcare and your example you’re talking about You have to not have to spend some money and that means you’re not gonna make as much money because you’re having to spend some But if it allows you to keep your commitments, you know get things done Grow your company like you’ve got to make those trades, you know You have to you have to be willing to yeah, and how much do you want to earn?
[00:24:17.600]
Sometimes that’s a scary question because like hey, maybe you’re planning five years down the road That’s kind of hard, but I think
[00:24:25.200]
You can speak more to this, but it’s like dream big, I think, but also be realistic.
[00:24:31.600]
Well, you have to know how much you want to earn. People try to tiptoe around this. It’s like, no, that’s pretty important. You know, just like you got to know how much you’ve got to earn just to pay your bills in a business, you know, and you don’t want to work for free. A lot of a lot of entrepreneurs go out and start and they they end up just buying themselves a job that doesn’t make any money. Then they go broke and they barely make enough to pay all the bills and they’ll have money come in and then it’s gone. You know, so you have to map out, especially if you have a family and stuff like that and goals you want to accomplish for your business. You got to know how much money is your business got to generate. Then what are your margins and what could be your profit? And as a business owner, you’re going to live on the profit and you can’t take all the profit because you got to reinvest and that. But you got to know those numbers so you can know.
[00:25:23.000]
What it is you got to go do to execute and and hit it and if you don’t hit it You got to figure out why and you know what I mean, but you got to know that you can’t just Yeah, willy -nilly you do have to know that and it’s hard sometimes because if you don’t know you don’t know so I would say talk to some people who’d actually do what you want to do and find out like If you Google like what does the average realtor make I mean, it’s such a wide range So talk to some people who actually do it and get their advice if they’ll share it with you their opinions and a realistic look Before you go jump into something Well, most people will have a good w -2 job and then they’ll think that they can go do it themselves Right, and then they go out onto themselves, but they don’t do any of this
[00:26:13.300]
And then a year or two goes by and man, they hadn’t made no money, you know? And they’re like, forget this, I’m working more hours, I’m stress is too high. They look at it and they’re like, I didn’t even make any dang money. You know, and then they end up just going back and being an employee again at a company that is working. And honestly, most are better off doing that. You know, there’s nothing wrong with that whatsoever. It’s a whole lot easier and being a business owner is not for everybody.
[00:26:46.900]
Sometimes we, just honestly, because we are in honest mode here. Sometimes we look at each other and we’re like, are we crazy?
[00:26:55.900]
why are we doing all this? It’d be so much easier to just like have a job. And go to work and come home and like have two kids. And like, what have we created is so, you know? But then we’re like, but it’s worth it. Like at the end of the day, worth it. But it is, it can be hard.
[00:27:17.600]
Yeah. So these are some good prompts for you. You wrote down right five goals for the next year.
[00:27:25.600]
Well, I think it’s important. I broke this down into one year goals, three year goals and dream big goals. And then underneath that you do five goals and then you say, how can these be accomplished?
[00:27:37.200]
and even putting deadlines on them. So I like that because one year is like pretty easy because you’re like what do I want to accomplish this year? Three year makes you think a little bit more and it gives you time to do them. Dream big, I have five to 10 years out and I write, write down ones that scare you a little bit just to write them. Ones that bring you excitement. I like to say your dream big goals are the ones that make you want to, I don’t even want to show these to anybody because they are scary. Maybe even a little embarrassing that somebody would actually see that and think they’ll never do that. This is your permission to dream big.
[00:28:19.300]
Yeah, nobody’s got to see it, it’s fine. Yeah.
[00:28:23.900]
In the section that says basics for building, I have write a personal mission statement. You can even write some hashtags for your brand. What does your ideal client look like? You can go deep on that. We call these avatars. So when you think about your ideal client, you can actually create an avatar. When you think about who would I actually sell to? What do they do? That’s powerful. So you can dive deep on that.
[00:28:54.500]
And you’ll learn in business, you don’t want everybody to be your customer. There’s some customers that are a pain in the neck. And you just like, I, you know, but in the beginning, if you’re starving, you’re trying to serve everybody, right? As you become more successful, you’re like, no, not working with them. No, not working with them. Like you have your ideal likely buyer or customer. And when they’re not, you know, the ability to say no is a very powerful thing because they will.
[00:29:21.300]
If you don’t mesh well together they’ll ruin your life and keep you up at night and stress is high and it’s like those kind Of clients you do not want so write out who you do want, you know And you’ll learn over time if you’re just starting because like you said when you first start you’re like I will take everyone Yeah, anyone who comes to me.
[00:29:38.200]
I just want business which is good. You need to be hungry But you will learn like oh, this is actually my ideal client yeah, and it just meshes and it works and I enjoyed it and That’s who I want more of so Ideal client that’s really important. These are some practical ways that I have found to help conquer my days Yours are gonna look different. Yours are gonna look different than mine But write down some ways that help you conquer your days. Here’s what I wrote
[00:30:10.100]
Make my bed every morning and you can vouch for this because we live together Yep, you do I make our bed every day every day every day Pretty much as soon as I wake up or like after I have coffee and read my Bible. It’s important to me now Do we have discussions because you think I have too many throw pillows on the bed?
[00:30:29.500]
Oh my gosh. I Don’t know is 20 throw pillows too many like Tim. How about 30? Is that too many?
[00:30:35.700]
There’s like 10 Oh gosh, but I like it because when I walk in the room, it looks pretty When I go to sleep at night, I gotta I create a pile That’s about a five foot square and as tall as the bed But do you know what’s funny now that we’ve been married almost 17 years You’re just used to this and you don’t complain about it as much anymore.
[00:30:53.900]
Oh man. No, there’s no point that because I know it ain’t going anywhere
[00:30:58.300]
So, make your bed, and I teach this at almost every women’s retreat I talk at. Make your bed every morning. It starts your day right. I, if I ever don’t make my bed, which is very rare, but come home and it’s unmade, oh, I just feel sloppy. And I just feel like, I don’t know. You come home and it’s another thing to do and it’s not done. So make your bed every morning. Something else I love doing is emptying my sink every night. I call this putting your kitchen to bed. You could start your dishwasher at night. You could start it in the morning or maybe you hand wash. But I like waking up to where the sink is not full of dishes. Reading your Bible first thing each day. Doesn’t have to be like the first thing you do when you wake up, but like the first part of your day. We’re both big advocates of this.
[00:31:48.700]
Wash your face each night. Okay, this is kind of silly.
[00:31:52.000]
Yeah, I don’t do that man. You don’t gotta do that Yeah, but the women either one and you know what? I don’t I see men out there with like face, you know What do they call that a routine? What do they call that?
[00:32:03.500]
Face there’s a term You know these guys on the you know, it’s just like Be a man, but I talked to a lot of women who don’t it’s like you gotta at least take your makeup off each Okay, what else? Drink water each day Okay, this is important and we all want to drink more water We both drink electrolytes in our water and I have that has been a game -changer. I think for both of us Yeah, you got to get water in your body
[00:32:33.700]
Something else that we’re big advocates of is going for a walk each day. Well, you’re a big advocate of working out each day. I’m a big advocate of walking each day. I think when you move your body, your mind’s better. Obviously your body’s better. Everything’s better. And you just gotta get in a habit of doing it. Plan your day before it starts. We’ve talked about this. Plan your day, plan your week, plan your month. Have a plan before it starts. Don’t just go through your day and whatever happens, happens. Have a checklist. Check things off, make a plan.
[00:33:11.300]
All that stuff is important and your business needs to be ran in kind of the same manner, okay? Successful companies are…
[00:33:20.000]
Are pretty routine. They have routines Week to week their activities look very similar very the same they have these rocks in their schedule Every Monday they do this every Tuesday like it’s there’s it’s systems. It’s systemized. It’s it’s habitual And then you’re as a business owner. You’re constantly making adjustments to what’s not working But you have to have a plan you have to have routines humans love routines employees love routines They know what to expect when they can know what to expect and have a good work environment and all that.
[00:33:54.500]
They perform better And so this stuff while it’s home it starts in your house If you’re if your house is in in your life is a chaos your business is going to be chaotic And it all it all ties in together
[00:34:09.500]
Okay, I think we are going to end this section, but we still have more to talk about so we’re coming back for part two So this was part one. We’re wrapping this week up come back for part two Next time till next time
