Building A Faith-Centered Family

[00:00:22.400]
Welcome back to another episode of Y ‘all Are Crazy.

[00:00:25.600]
We are so excited to be here with you again this week to just talk about some more crazy topics, at least as far as the world is concerned. So today we’re gonna talk about faith in our home. We think it’s so important to embrace our Christian faith in our homes because in the world, as far as the world’s concerned, you can just do whatever you want.

[00:00:49.600]
It doesn’t matter, you don’t have to have a game plan. If it feels good that day, you do it. And we think just the opposite. So we believe that when you are a Christian, you’re called to a higher purpose. And we believe that as a Christian family, you have a different mindset than the world has.

[00:01:10.900]
And the world will try to pull you in every other direction, but in the direction to build your faith or raise your family the way you wanna raise your family. And it’s very hard in our culture to be intentional and raise a good Christian family.

[00:01:30.600]
It is. And it’s been like this forever. Like we talk about a lot of times like, oh, this seems like such a tumultuous time and it’s so hard and you got pulling in all these directions. But when you read the Bible, it’s literally been like that since before the fall. It was like this in the Garden of Eden.

[00:01:50.400]
So Satan literally tried to pull Adam and Eve away from God. So this has always been a thing. So the question is, how do we in today’s culture navigate this? Obviously, we do not always get this right. No, not at all. We are 38 -year -old parents, we have seven children, and we mess up. But we will share what we have learned, what’s worked for us, what we feel like is helping our kids, and where we are. So that’s all we can do.

[00:02:23.400]
Yeah, that’s all we can do is share experiences that we’ve had, things that worked for our family, things that have not worked.

[00:02:30.700]
and hopefully give you the confidence and the courage to take some action. And if you’re not on the right track that you wanna be on, maybe take some action to get on that right track for you and your family.

[00:02:43.400]
Absolutely. So we’re gonna start with some things that have always worked well for us. I think if you, I wanna say first of all, you and your spouse need to be united in these things. If you and your spouse are not united, then you have to get to that place. If you’re not yet, it’s gonna be much easier if you have the same mindset in this. And if you don’t,

[00:03:11.700]
then you can tackle this on your own, but your spouse, you need to pray for them. And you need to pray for your mindsets and your philosophies to unite because it makes it so much easier and better. So as a married couple, your first priority has to be God. It has to be, we’re putting God first no matter what.

[00:03:31.700]
Only if you wanna have a successful marriage.

[00:03:33.400]
That’s right.

[00:03:34.100]
If you don’t.

[00:03:35.300]
True.

[00:03:36.200]
Don’t worry about it.

[00:03:37.200]
True. So for us, when we got, well, even really before we got married, probably when we were dating and engaged, we started talking about, we’re gonna put God first. He’s always gonna be our top priority. When we got married and our finances combined, which they should, another controversial issue, but we believe as a married couple, you should combine your finances.

[00:03:58.300]
Everything should be combined. The Bible says two become one. You don’t continue to live separately.

[00:04:06.400]
That invites disaster and absolutely. Yeah.

[00:04:11.100]
Yeah I mean that does not mean in our opinion that You should give your each other allowances or that you should like Strictly control each other’s spending.

[00:04:21.900]
Yeah, at least less one of you has a huge problem But yeah, you have to have trust in one another and communicate be on the same team. Yes, if you’re if you’re Separately in certain areas of your marriage or whatever.

[00:04:38.700]
It’s like you’re gonna be divided on one of the things Yeah, so you need to be united on God is first Your tithing needs to be united if we are going to give 10 % to God and you need to know how often you’re gonna Tithe where you’re going to tithe and you need to be on the same page with that

[00:04:59.800]
The next thing that is a huge deal for us is taking our family to church every Sunday. Before we had kids we did this and we’ve never stopped.

[00:05:10.700]
Right, well as humans we love routines, we love habits, we love comfort, you know, predictability, stability, stuff like that. And I think in your life, whether it’s your faith or your family or your finances and Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business, creating routines and habits help you tremendously, unless they’re bad habits, but the good ones. And so for us, it’s a weekly cadence of every Sunday, every weekend.

[00:05:43.900]
We’re there. I mean, we might miss a couple Sundays a year, but.

[00:05:46.500]
Probably two a year, I would say, because we’re on vacations. Yeah. I think that’s a big deal, because our kids never have to ask, are we going to church tomorrow?

[00:05:55.100]
Yeah, we never get asked that question.

[00:05:56.700]
We’re going to church tomorrow.

[00:05:58.200]
What are we wearing to church tomorrow?

[00:06:00.200]
When I am, I’d say. Right, like it is, you know you’re going. Our kids have even gotten to the point of if something else happens to be on a Sunday, one of our sons, they convict us at this point. He got invited to a wrestling tournament. Oh yeah. He got invited to, not a tournament, it was a camp. He got invited to a camp, and we’re like, you know what, it’s on Sunday morning. It was also Friday and Saturday. It is on Sunday morning, for the last day, you can go, like we give you permission to go to this, it’s okay, he’s 11. And he told us multiple times, I need to be in church.

[00:06:41.600]
Yeah.

[00:06:42.200]
Church is more important to me than wrestling now our sons love wrestling like it is a very big part of our lives And they’re very good at it very talented But even though we as his parents said it’s okay He said no, I need to be at church Because we have impressed that upon them so much as they’ve been growing up that now they feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit of this is where I need to be Because when we get saved and our children get saved we give our hearts to Jesus The Holy Spirit dwells within us and the Holy Spirit does dwell within our children as our one of our pastor says There is no junior Holy Spirit when your children become saved the Holy Spirit dwells within them

[00:07:29.500]
they have the same convictions we have. And so that was a really big deal to us. He did miss the wrestling camp, he did go to church. Another time he got invited to compete up with the junior high wrestling team. And he’s in sixth grade, so he’s not in junior high yet but they wanted him to compete up. And this was during VBS week. And our kids love VBS, I love VBS. Vacation Bible School is so awesome in the summer. However, it was during VBS week. And once again, our son loves wrestling and this would have been very good for him. But he said, mom, I can’t miss VBS for three days for this camp. And I was like, well, bub, it’s okay. Like you can if you want to, it’s VBS, it’s okay. We understand this camp will be good for you. He’s like, mom, Jesus wants me to be at VBS. Well, I’m not arguing with that.

[00:08:21.400]
No, you can’t argue with that.

[00:08:23.000]
So your convictions will become your children’s convictions.

[00:08:28.400]
you do have to model the way.

[00:08:30.900]
Well, and I think in today’s society, sports are just such a big deal for families right now. Even when we were growing up and playing sports, it was a big deal. I played competitive ball, travel, all that stuff. But now it’s like, they have kids and they rank their teams or the individual nationally and it’s done nothing but like compound the competitiveness, if you will. And so there’s always a tournament. There’s always a something to go play. And it’s not that all that is bad, but if you’re in a spot to where, if you are a Christian and you really look at your calendar and count up how many.

[00:09:10.700]
how many Sundays a year does our family make it to church and if that’s a low number like that’s a problem.

[00:09:17.100]
Yeah.

[00:09:17.600]
But I think a lot of parents don’t ever stop to think about that because they’re living in such a fast pace and everybody’s pulling them in different directions that they don’t even think about it right and they just assume that their kids can be raised this away outside of the church right outside of spiritual growth and that magically when they just gonna be okay or they’re just gonna they’ll raise a Christian family themselves right it’s like the Bible talks about having to raise your your children up in a way that they should go well if you don’t build that foundation with your kids how do you expect them to do it when they get old and they start having kids that’s proverbs so train up a child in the way they shall go when they’re old they will not depart from it yeah so you have to train your child up and doing everything the world wants you to do you go to school Monday through Friday you know you maybe you maybe you have practices three four

[00:10:10.700]
nights a week and then Saturday and Sunday you’re you’re gone right you might be in Dallas you might be in who knows where you know then it’s like you’re training your kid up in that way and I think the devil loves to have people distracted busy busy don’t have time to read your Bible don’t have time to go to church don’t have time to and we’re not saying sports are bad because we love sports I love it but you have to control it we have to yeah we have we have athletic children we were both athletes growing up we love sports just as much as anybody but a lot of times you do have to you have to say no to the world even when it’s hard so one of our sons got invited to play on a baseball team and they were gonna practice on Wednesday evening and I said we don’t practice on Wednesday evenings our kids do church on Wednesday evenings and I don’t I know there were some other Christians on the team but no one else said anything

[00:11:10.800]
But the coach ended up moving the practice. Because he’s like, oh, when people aren’t Christians, they don’t necessarily think about it.

[00:11:18.800]
True, yeah, but it used to be a thing. I mean, I don’t know, 20, 30, 40 years ago, that was a thing, people didn’t do, they had church on Sunday and Wednesdays, that was more common. And nowadays it’s just not, and coaches will schedule things on Wednesdays and Sundays all the time.

[00:11:33.700]
A lot of times, coaches, what we’ve found, will move things if they understand that kids have church. They have this, a lot of times they will. However, we have had occasions where they’ve scheduled a game on Wednesday night, maybe it’s a makeup game, and we have to say, we can’t be there, we have church. And they play without us. And our son misses a game.

[00:11:57.100]
And we don’t, I mean, make sure our…

[00:11:59.300]
you know, our heart posture’s right on this deal, but we’re not trying to make the team change for our sake. Like, no, that’s not like that. If the team wants to go practice on a Wednesday night, go for it, our kid just won’t be there. You know, we don’t need them to adjust their schedules around us and our priorities, no. What we’re trying to teach you is like, your priorities might be different than what we’re discussing, but whatever your priorities are, what you need to actually figure out, because most don’t, you know, have enough confidence and courage to live your life in such a way, you know? And if one team doesn’t work for you because of a certain schedule, go find another one. Who cares if they’re supposedly the best team or the better team? Because here’s the reality, I was talking about this with a friend this week, was like, man, do you think about the amount of money that these parents spend on these certain ball clubs and.

[00:12:47.200]
It’s like the travel expense, the hotel expense, the team expense, the eating out, all this stuff. And I talk to a lot of these parents in my Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business, trying to help them with their financial planning and stuff like that. And it’s like, they have no money because it’s all gone. Every time it comes in, it goes out.

[00:13:05.200]
And kids sports are expensive. Let me tell you, our daughter’s in cheer for the first year. And this is through the school. This is not even like a travel team, whatever. It’s expensive.

[00:13:15.000]
It’s expensive. What’s her uniform? Like 600 bucks or something? I about fell over. I was like, for a cheerleader?

[00:13:21.200]
For a seventh grade cheerleader? Like what? So it’s expensive. Sports are expensive.

[00:13:26.400]
Yeah, but it’s like, you add all that up because a lot of parents still justify it and say, well, my kid might get a college scholarship one day.

[00:13:32.000]
and it’s like, okay, the amount of money you spend between the time that they’re four years old to 18, I think you could pay for some college education.

[00:13:39.800]
She’s with that. And it is, and a lot of people say it’s a great building experience for our family. We get to be together a lot, and it can be.

[00:13:48.900]
Can be, no, there’s parents definitely that do that right, and they go as a family and they compete as a family, and hey, power to you, that’s good. They’re being intentional with the way they wanna do it. But the most, the majority are not.

[00:14:04.400]
It’s separated.

[00:14:05.400]
It’s separated, you know? And what we see from that is that’s just one area that can be slipping, but it leads to other problems in your marriage and in your family.

[00:14:15.200]
Yeah.

[00:14:16.300]
You know, if you do have a financial problem because you’re spending all your money and you can’t save none, now that creates additional stress on the marriage.

[00:14:21.900]
Which then creates stress in the kids because they see it, you know, they can go downhill fast.

[00:14:27.000]
Yeah And this is just another area we can say like talk to your spouse Unite your family make a decision together. Yeah, there are definitely some sports teams that are like well, we’re gonna do this We only have four tournaments a year. We are gonna miss on those Sundays We know that going into it right now. We’re gonna make that choice as a family You know that you unite you make that decision and you don’t make sports your top priority Yeah, that’s you don’t make it and you don’t teach your kids that that’s the number one priority either That’s right that will grow up to be their number one priority.

[00:15:00.800]
That’s right, you know and and what you know, and again what we’re trying to talk about is the

[00:15:06.500]
making God and faith your priority.

[00:15:09.400]
It has to be your priority.

[00:15:10.500]
People will say that though, you notice that? People will say that, but then you look at their schedule and their calendar and it’s like, there’s not much time in there really for your faith. It’s like, well, I don’t know that he’s your priority. Maybe it’s your work, maybe it is sports, maybe it’s something else, but you have to block off time for it if it’s gonna be a priority.

[00:15:29.900]
Yeah, so we talked about going to church, we’ve talked about tithing. Another thing that’s big for us is daily Bible reading. So we both do this every morning. We’ve both gotten in a pretty good routine at this. I think we can both highly recommend the Bible recap.

[00:15:46.700]
If you’re looking, Taralee Cobble, I got this, I started it before you and then I ended up getting for you as a Christmas gift. So they have kind of a woman’s looking Bible like a turquoise and then the men’s is like leather, brown leather. But this is also a podcast. So the podcast is great but I would highly recommend you get the paper Bible to go with it. So you’re getting to highlight and read it every day. So Bible reading’s a huge part for us of what we do. I also write in a prayer journal every morning. It just sets my mind right for the day. Our kids have seen us doing this, probably for as long as they can remember. So now what we’re seeing is our daughter and our son, 12 and 11, they’re setting their own alarms, getting up every morning, doing their little workouts and reading their Bibles to start their day. We have not made them do that. We’re not like you have to get up at 6 .30 and read your Bible before you go to school. No, they want to.

[00:16:46.300]
Yeah, that’s been pretty neat to see this year, them doing that on their own.

[00:16:49.700]
That’s pretty awesome. Now, will all our children do that?

[00:16:53.000]
I don’t know.

[00:16:53.800]
They have different personalities. They, our first two children are very, they want to please, they’re very like, they’re just very responsible. They’re good leaders. They’re good leaders. So we’ll see if our others do that and we’re not gonna force them to, but I love seeing that they’ve seen us do that and it’s just normal for them.

[00:17:13.900]
Yeah. Yeah, so that’s another cadence, a habit, a routine that can help you, you know? The morning, by the way, I don’t do mine every day.

[00:17:27.600]
You do pretty much.

[00:17:28.800]
I mean, you’re pretty close. Like this week, I missed twice, you know, so.

[00:17:32.800]
But again, if your routine is the rule and it’s not like the exception, that’s what it’s all, because none of us are gonna hit it perfect. That’s right.

[00:17:43.000]
And I think once you get into a routine of this, when you do miss a day, you feel bad.

[00:17:48.100]
Oh yeah, oh yeah, I felt bad.

[00:17:49.500]
So you feel that conviction.

[00:17:51.300]
I had scheduled some stuff and hired, I think, four new employees this week, and was like, man, I had to be there early. And again, I should have done better. I should have just woke up earlier and prioritized.

[00:18:04.000]
There’s grace for that too.

[00:18:06.000]
But that’s how I think in my mind. It’s like, hey, I made that choice, but we joke her at my office and stuff.

[00:18:15.300]
do better.

[00:18:16.100]
You gotta do better.

[00:18:17.100]
That’s a kind of an inside joke when we mess up. We just joke with each other say do better. Yep. And that was my do better moment for the week. I should have just woke up a little earlier.

[00:18:26.000]
But that’s honest. That’s true.

[00:18:27.800]
That’s how it goes.

[00:18:28.700]
So there’s there’s grace for that when you mess up or when you miss a day like I think another God doesn’t expect perfection routine that helps a lot is eating supper. Well that was point. So you kind of jumped ahead of that. Yes. So then the next point is the cadence if you will of dinner supper. We call it supper. We’re from Oklahoma. We say supper. So supper around the dinner table at night is a huge deal for us and sadly not the norm anymore.

[00:19:00.200]
Yeah. Used to be.

[00:19:02.100]
Yes.

[00:19:02.900]
Used to be in America. That was the normal thing. But now it’s not right. And you do a great job of always having supper ready.

[00:19:11.500]
Cooked and yeah, you know, you’ve taken on that is your role to do and yeah, you know I’ll get home from the office around six usually or something like that And you know, you’ve got supper pretty much ready to roll and you do have to work as a team on that because I used to get like mad at you because I’m like I Don’t like having supper ready and then you’re home 30 minutes later and it’s cold and then like we’re all in a bad mood Cuz we’re hungry. Yeah, and that does also change when the daylight savings changes Because I don’t know like we eat earlier in the winter.

[00:19:42.200]
Yeah, it just seems to work that way You know times throughout the years that building my Oklahoma Grassfed Beef business, you know my Oklahoma Grassfed Beef businesses and stuff that yeah I’d have a guy call you and not be home with the normal time, right?

[00:19:53.500]
No, and I like to know when you’ll be home because when you’re cooking you got to cook the meat and you got To have every and you want it to be hot when you eat it

[00:20:04.900]
That’s how it goes sometimes.

[00:20:06.300]
And in these busy seasons right now, our kids have practices a lot. So we kind of have to make the decision, do we eat before practice? Or do we wait till we get home and eat later?

[00:20:15.000]
Hey, that’s a good point too. Another little hot tip strategy is like, even if we do have practices in the evening and she doesn’t, you don’t cook a supper for us, there’s a lot of times that we’ll stop in town and get some food, whether it’s taco mayo.

[00:20:27.800]
We only have like five places, so.

[00:20:30.200]
But even if it’s like taco mayo, we go buy it and then we come home and set it all up around the dinner table and sit down and eat. You know, one of our kids will lead a prayer, usually.

[00:20:40.000]
That’s another thing. Pray before you eat dinner, supper, breakfast, lunch. That’s a very easy routine to get into. And now our kids.

[00:20:49.800]
are convicted like if you if somebody doesn’t pray they’re like who’s praying we can’t eat till we pray and sometimes it is chaos like I if you could see a video around our table like we’ve got two in high chairs so it can’t even hear yourself thinking it’s so it is loud but somebody always says who’s gonna pray and it may be a ten second prayer yeah depending on who’s praying but it’s just pausing to set the tone of God is first we are thankful for this food we’re thankful for our family so prioritizing family separate time you get to pray together and then you also get to talk obviously we do know phones at the dinner table our kids don’t have phones and won’t for a long time that’s another thing but we both do and we both have Oklahoma Grassfed Beef businesses and they’re always our phones are always going if I set my phone down for lunch for an hour I will come back to it and have 28 That’s just normal.

[00:21:48.800]
But during that time, we really try to like set those down and be intentional because you get to talk a lot. Something we do sometimes is highs, lows, buffaloes. So that means, you know, talk about your high of the day, your low of the day, and the kids call the buffalo something fun or unexpected that happened. Now, myself and a few of our kids love this.

[00:22:10.100]
Yeah, I don’t like it. You – I like what it does, I don’t like doing it.

[00:22:14.200]
You and a few of our kids are like, oh, I don’t wanna do this.

[00:22:17.500]
Me and Bradley are always like, oh, yes, you know. I mean, we know that it’s good, but it’s not our personality to talk about, you know, stuff like our highs and lows of the day. It’s like, my personality is just more of like, you know, who cares?

[00:22:31.900]
and do your thing and, you know, go in Oklahoma Grassfed Beef or whatever. You know, it’s like, I don’t like talking about my feelings.

[00:22:37.100]
You know? It just gets, it gets everybody talking.

[00:22:39.400]
And it gives everybody a chance to share.

[00:22:42.100]
Especially in a big family, like a lot of times everybody doesn’t always get to feel heard. And then that makes some of the kids even louder because they want to be heard. So it’s a good chance for everybody to talk.

[00:22:52.200]
Right.

[00:22:53.400]
So that’s when we love that. Something else that we’ve started doing more as our kids have gotten older is have them help with cleanup after. We’ve been really emphasizing like helping with dishes and running the vacuum and like having responsibilities for the kids after we eat.

[00:23:11.600]
Yeah, that’s good.

[00:23:13.900]
So family dinner time is big for us.

[00:23:18.200]
spiritual cadence, but we learned that, we’ll talk about one that we do almost every night.

[00:23:23.800]
Reading the Bible before bed.

[00:23:25.100]
Almost every night. That’s on the list. I don’t bat 100%, but pretty close.

[00:23:29.100]
Yeah, a lot of times you wanna just be like, let’s go to bed, and I’m like, no, we need to read the Bible.

[00:23:33.800]
I have to fight that, because I get up at five every day, or 450, it depends, and I try to, I like nine, I’d say really probably for me, by like 8 .45, like mentally, I’m done.

[00:23:45.700]
Yeah, and that’s hard for me, because we, all the kids have to take a bath. Everybody should brush their teeth, and they don’t every night. And it’s chaos sometimes, because, if you are a parent, you know bedtime is chaos, because the kids wanna talk about everything they did that day. Everybody needs a drink of water.

[00:24:08.900]
Like, it’s just – For brunch last night, I went apple juice.

[00:24:10.800]
And we’re like, no apple juice right before bed. And so it’s just, it’s chaos. So, but what we try to do is he, as the father, as the spiritual leader of our household reads the Bible to the kids at night.

[00:24:26.700]
We learned that from our pastor, well, I don’t know, three, four years ago now. I forget, I forget even the story that he was telling.

[00:24:32.000]
I think it was his dad did it for him every night.

[00:24:34.600]
I don’t think so. I think it was the story of some other man that might have been a successful man, the pastor guy, something. And anyway, I think that guy was like passing away or something like that. And they’d asked one of his kids or several of his kids, what is the thing that had the biggest impact on you that your father did or something along those lines. And it was an unexpected response. But it was, you know, my father, they, he read the Bible to us every.

[00:25:00.400]
night. Yeah. And he would usually just read like a song, like a few verses.

[00:25:05.400]
It does not have to be hard.

[00:25:06.600]
It wasn’t like something elaborate. It was like he read songs.

[00:25:09.200]
And we do proverbs or psalms.

[00:25:10.800]
Those are kind of our things.

[00:25:12.100]
And it’s maybe, I don’t know, six, eight, ten verses.

[00:25:15.800]
Yeah. And we’ve done, I think we went home like that night.

[00:25:18.900]
Yeah. And it’s been several years now. And so what we do is he reads it and then we say, okay, kids, what did you get out of that? And they usually can either share, they can repeat back something they heard, or they can share the overall message of it. Yeah. And once again, our kids are not, I mean, our oldest are 12 and 11. They’re getting it more. The younger ones, sometimes they’re like, I don’t know what I learned, mom, what I learned. And I have to be like, sometimes it’s like Jesus loves you. Yeah. And just having them repeat that. And then sometimes it’s something that I’m like, okay, they can repeat this back.

[00:25:54.000]
Right. Yes.

[00:25:57.500]
You never know what they’re going to say. You never know.

[00:25:59.900]
And it’s like for me, like I don’t try to correct them unless they’re way scripturally off.

[00:26:06.700]
And sometimes they are because they don’t really fully get it.

[00:26:09.300]
Like if they’re completely wrong. But they’re saying something that still is biblically true, but not what I just read. Right. You know, we just move on. Well, yeah. Yeah.

[00:26:18.700]
Yeah. I think that’s true. And then we always do a family prayer together at night, which always gets taken over by our two year old. Yeah. He likes to pray every night. We tried. We tried for a while that everybody gets a turn and we kind of took turns every night. But now the two year old almost three every night, I pray, I pray and he just wants to repeat after me.

[00:26:39.500]
he asked, he’ll yell in your face.

[00:26:41.800]
So Branch prays every night right now. So maybe that will change and we’ll get back to everybody gets a turn to pray. But right now he prays and he wants to say everyone’s name in the family and the dog and pray and he wants to repeat after mom and he’s so proud of himself. So that’s been fun.

[00:26:59.000]
It’s been good.

[00:27:01.200]
So bedtimes are, so if you guys have been catching on like for us, these are all cadences. These are all routines that we do consistently. So going to church, tithing, dinner around the table, prayer and Bible time at night, prayer or Bible time in the morning when we wake up, we do these every day, every week. These are not just like, if we feel like it, these are things that we believe in so strongly that they are literally a part of our life.

[00:27:33.000]
Yeah and some people will ask us sometimes, well, how do you do that with everything?

[00:27:36.400]
And quite honestly, whatever your routines are, your routines are actually easy because you’re just used to it. It’s like automatic. It’s like, you know, they say when you brush your teeth, like people brush their teeth the same way every time they brush their teeth. Like you close your eyes and you hit the same teeth in the same order. So you just create these habits and routines that you want and implement them. And then eventually, it doesn’t take very long, it just happens. It’s just habit. It’s not effort to you anymore. In the beginning, getting a new routine or a habit is obviously effort, but eventually it becomes easy.

[00:28:12.800]
And the whole point of this episode is to encourage you and to help you with what we do as a real life family with a lot of kids, chaos around us.

[00:28:24.700]
busy lives, but putting God first.

[00:28:28.000]
Right, and don’t be scared to do it. I think that’s the other message we wanna give is, because we have a lot of good Christian friends and families that ask us questions from time to time and it’s like, you know, I want them to be equipped the best way possible. Hopefully we gave some good advice today, but don’t be scared to, you know, go against the grain, you know, in society. What actually happens a lot of times is you end up getting more respected because of it.

[00:28:51.100]
Absolutely.

[00:28:52.000]
But you gotta be willing to, I don’t know, not go with the society sometimes.

[00:28:57.300]
Well, like this whole podcast premise is y ‘all are crazy. And so a lot of times when you do things that the world views as weird, you’re gonna get told y ‘all are crazy. At this point, we take that as a compliment. To us, we’re like, we just own that. We know we’re crazy compared to the world standards. We get that, but what an honor to be called.

[00:29:19.900]
crazy.

[00:29:20.600]
Yeah, because I really, truthfully, I think that y ‘all are crazy. You know, letting life pull you around everywhere and not being in control of your own destiny and no calendar, no to -do list, no routine. Like, I think that’s crazy. But we just, you know, they say it to us all the time, so we just take it on and, you know, smile and keep moving.

[00:29:40.500]
Yeah, we’ve been talking a lot this week, specifically, but always. Like, God has called us to be the light of the world. And when God puts his light inside of us, we should not hide it. It’s like a city on the hill. It’s like, you know, you put your light on the lampstand for all to see. So as Christian people, we have to let our light shine and we have to teach our kids, I pray for our kids every single day, God let your light shine through them.

[00:30:06.700]
We have to be the light as Christian couples families people employers Parents we have to be the light Don’t be afraid to be crazy in the name of Jesus, right?

[00:30:19.700]
It’s tough to do. I mean, you know, yeah Oh, yeah, it’s not it’s not easy Yeah, and you’re gonna mess up too. Then they’re gonna you know, people try to say, you know You have a critical or whatever the case may be and it’s like man. We’re we’re all sinners and falling short It’s a daily effort to try to go in the right direction and you can’t always Do it, right?

[00:30:40.700]
Well, there’s nothing more sanctifying than parenthood and marriage I think and so If we’ll allow God to sanctify us we can get closer to him. Yeah So thanks for joining us on another episode. Y ‘all are crazy. We hope you guys enjoyed it We hope you took some things away from it and we hope that you can build your family to be more faith -centered
