Yall Are Crazy Ranch Family

Hi. We’re the Schubert Family.

Meet our Ranch Manager, John Manning. John oversees the daily operations of the Ranch and ensures all is up and running well! Thanks, John!

Our Story

Many people ask us how our ranch got its unique name. That’s a good question and one that requires a little background knowledge to fully understand. We have always been an unconventional family. Even when we were dating, we learned the value of taking risks and doing things that others would not. We held onto the phrase of “do it afraid” and stepped out of our comfort zones on a regular basis.

Yall Are Crazy Ranch Home 3

Hi y’all. We’re the Schubert Family. Bronson & Ashley founded the Y’all Are Crazy Ranch in 2020. Along with our 6 children, we own and operate the Ranch! Meet the kids – Brylee, Bowen, Baker, Benaiah, Barlow and Branch. We enjoy spending time on our property, taking care of our animals, fishing in our bountiful ponds and being in God’s creation. Brylee enjoys riding her horse, Rocky, around the property and trail riding in the meadows. Rocky and Bobby Wayne are the ponies of the ranch and very gentle and easy to ride! Welcome to our home! We cannot wait to show you around our site which details the inner workings of our ranch!

Bronson & Ashley are the owners of the Ranch and proudly welcome you to the “Y’all Are Crazy Ranch” Headquarters. Ranch operations are fun, challenging and rewarding around here! We love green grass, sunsets and evenings spent enjoying the views! Bronson & Ashley are happy to call this place home and their children enjoy the endless room to room and explore!

Meet the Ranch Manager, John Manning. John oversees the daily operations of the Ranch and ensures all is up and running well! John has a wide skill set and we are thankful to have him. He takes care of the animals, runs equipment, oversees the daily upkeep of the ranch and more. He loves this place and that’s a pretty special thing!

We love living on the ranch as our homestead and making special memories with our family! We not only raise cattle and livestock, but we fish and hunt on this place and our kids play and create! It’s a pretty special place for a kid to grow up, as you can imagine. There are no iPads around this place as the kids are too busy playing outside, imagining and getting the work done that it takes to operate a farm. The boys enjoy hunting and fishing regularly and we enjoy seeing lots of wildlife in the plentiful trees. It’s not unusual to see footprints and trails of creatures passing through.

Then we, your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation. – Psalm 79:13

Give thanks to God – He is good and His love never quits. – 1 Chronicles 16:34

Yall Are Crazy Ranch Home 2

We currently raise Longhorn and South Poll cattle. We get a lot of questions about why we chose these particular breeds so we have provided some fun answers to help describe both types in more detail.

Yall Are Crazy Ranch Home 1What is a longhorn?

What is a longhorn cow anyway? The Texas Longhorn is an American breed of beef cattle, characterized by its, well you guessed it, long horns. These horns vary in length and can span up to 8 feet in some cases. The hide color varies but the majority have a red hue to them. We have lots of babies born on the ranch each year and it’s always fun to see what color they will be! Breeding and growing the herd is a big responsibility and it’s what makes the ranch profitable as well as sustainable.

What is a South Poll?

According to Premium South Poll, South Polls are slick haired red or red and white. They’re bred for fertility, longevity, sound udders, docility, easy fleshing on grass, easy calving, heat adapted, and tender meat. We chose these type of cattle because they are strong, beautiful and very easy to care for. We like having cattle that breed easily, are generally great mothers and are proven to care for their offspring.

Our Other Animals

We also raise sheep and goats. These two amazing creatures are very useful when it comes to grazing operations. Unlike cattle, who can be picky about what they eat, sheep and goats eat a wide variety of grass, plants and weeds. Goats are even known to eat sticks, prickly plants, stickers and more. These stinkers will even eat things you don’t want them to eat so you do have to be cautious about what they have access to! We try to post pictures of these fun creatures regularly because they are comical and cute! When new babies are born, we cannot help but love the sight of those little ones!

Horses are amazing and are used around the ranch for getting cattle around but also for enjoyment. Our little horse is used for teaching the kids to ride but also at local petting zoos because she is docile and easy to haul.

We have a small dog named Walter, who is the boss. He is about 10 pounds and is sweet to everyone he meets, as long as they are kind to his humans (aka, the kids). We also have several ranch dogs who guard the animals and the homestead. Ellie is the lead ranch dog and is a mix of Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees. These dogs are natural protectors and watch over all that is entrusted in their care.

The Ranch Operation

Operating a ranch is no small task. It needs daily supervision to make sure it runs well! This includes feeding the animals, moving them around for natural grazing cycles, mowing and brush hogging and repairing fencing. It takes many hands to make it all work but it’s all worth it in the end. We love to share photos of our daily operations to show what it’s like to live on and thrive in a ranch setting!
